The months of May and June proved not to be such a ?bad? time for Alanda Homes in terms of property sales. With an astonishing 11 sales in total by the group, seven within their boutique developments and four accredited to their new real estate office, Alanda Estates, the team at Alanda Homes are certainly motivated.
?The whole team are to thank for this positive result? States Kandy Paterson, Sales and Marketing Director of Alanda Homes. ?We all knew these tough times were coming and so nine months ago we sat down and decided to take action and put various marketing strategies into place to combat the pending situation?

When asked what has happened to make these sales Desmond O?Connor MD of the Alanda Group says ?we spelt out the message to all our clients, our product offers the best value per meter square in all of the prestigious Los Flamingos Golf Resort, that coupled with quality, has lead to these sales? Desmond admits that the market is hard, but with a combination of having a good quality product and some flexibility on the price are helping the properties to sell. The most interesting thing is that it?s the properties in the 500,000? plus bracket which are moving.

Desmond believes that although the market is slow there are still buyers out there. Plenty of people have being waiting for the prices to become more flexible and that moment is now. Customers are market savvy, they can spot a good offer and they also ask questions about licences and build quality, views in the future and who the company behind the project is and what do they do. Customers are doing their research at home before they come to Spain to look at the properties so they know what they want. With the corruption cases being dealt with and new Decrees being passed in the courts about how Real Estate agents operate the whole market is becoming more transparent, thus giving back confidence to the buyer.

The Biggest Fight of All!

Recently in Aid of Cudeca, Alanda Homes sponsored Robin Van Werven and his sister Nicolette to climb La Concha Mountain in Marbella on the 12th of April 2008. Robin and Nicolette lost their father in his battle to cancer just last year. During his final days Cudeca helped their father at their Hospice in Benalmadena by assisting him and his family to ensure that he was as comfortable and pain free as possible.

Cudeca is a local hospice for Cancer sufferers, where they treat all nationalities and cancer victims who finally need hospice treatment, all without asking the families of those who are suffering for a single cent. Cudeca relies completely on donations.

Now Cudeca is fighting its own battle to survive, if they do not raise 500,000 euro before 2009 they will have to shut their doors for ever. Nicolette says 'Most important thing is that Robin and I did it for my dad and of course for all those fighters who still have to go through that terrible time in Cudeca. Luckily Cudeca softens the pain at this time. If we do not gather the money before 2009 they going to have to close down the ward where Robin and I lost our dad. This can't happen!'

La Concha Mountain is 1270 meters high and it took the team just under two and a half hours to reach the top! So well done to everyone who climbed that day for a good cause!

Alanda Homes plays host to the British Chamber of Commerce

Recently Alanda Homes played host to the British Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting at the Alanda Club Marbella. The event was organised in conjunction with Alanda Homes as part of a fund raising project for the BCC. The BCC plays a vital role in local business where both British and Spanish managed firms take the opportunity to network and enhance their business contacts as well giving them a chance to talk to various peers about the current state of the local economic market.

The event was well attended by both Members and Non Members of the chamber, 40 in total and the Alanda Club Marbella arranged various canap�s and drinks to be served throughout the evening.

Leading Property Agents Event

The LPA took the unusual and adventurous step of organising a full day conference and forum tackling the various issues surrounding the Costa del Sol?s most prominent industries, tourism and real estate.
The event took place at the Don Carlos hotel where it was officially opened by the Mayoress of Marbella Angeles Mu�oz. The forum tackled topics such as Urban Planning, the environment and also changes in the legal system for Realtors.

Topics discussed included building licences and local town planning, the housing demands for the future in Marbella, members of various organisations spoke such as Javier Martin Ledesma , President of the AEGI, as well as Ram�n D�vile who is the President of PROMOTUR, The Promoters Association of Residential Tourism and Sports in Andalusia.
Professor Luisa Gomez Moreno and Dr Rafael Mata, University of Malaga http://www.uma.es/ spoke about the key issues affecting the environment of the region, predictions for the future and how we can minimize our environmental impact for a better future.
Ben Dahlstrom, Overseas Property Professional Magazine (OPP) http://www.opp.org.uk/ Ben Dahlstrom, from the UK publication Overseas Property Professional compared the Costa del Sol to other popular destinations and suggesting ways to attract more holiday makers and property buyers and how he sees the area performing against the newer destinations in 2020.
Finally the event came to a close with an open floor for Questions and Answers where those who attended took the opportunity to ask the panel various questions regarding the topics discussed.

Alanda Estates, is the newest division of Alanda Homes on the Costa del Sol.

Located within the popular and long established Alanda Club Marbella resort, Elviria. Alanda Estates opened its doors for business just before Christmas 2007 and has also recently become a member of the Inmo Network.

Alanda Estates is yet another division of the already highly successful Irish owned company Mc Inerney Holdings PLC who have being operating on the Costa del Sol for more than 20 years.
